An Ordinary Hero - DVD

An Ordinary Hero is the true story of Joan Trumpauer Mulholland.

On her first trip to Mississippi in 1961, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland wound up on Death Row. The native white Southerner was there, not because she had committed some heinous crime, but because she was a Freedom Rider.

In June 1961, Jackson police arrested her and other Freedom Riders for breach of peace, and she spent more than two months behind bars.

Her son, Loki Mulholland, has captured her story in an excellent documentary, An Ordinary Hero: The True Story of Joan Trumpauer Mulholland. [From review by Jerry Mitchell in the Clarion Ledger.]
